Our Delivery To Children's Medical Center!

We delivered our books today to Children's Medical Center at Legacy! We met Albi Calman, the Family Resource Librarian. She was sooooo nice! She told us so much information about the hospital! Did you know that kids come to Children's from all over the WORLD? WOW! We ARE changing the world canvas!! She gave us a tour of the hospital. We got to meet another volunteer who works with her, and see the Family Resource Center. We are pretty excited that we are overloading them with books! They are going to share them with other Children's locations in Dallas and Southlake. VERY COOL!

We finished sorting all of our books. They are boxed and ready to be delivered! The librarian is very excited that we got so many books donated! Thanks again!!

More GREAT News! Thank you, Borchardt PTA!

We wrote a letter to Mrs. King, our principal, and to the president of the Borchardt PTA. We asked if we could do the book drive again next year, but when we leave Borchardt, would they consider taking it over? We want to feel like we are really "changing the world." They were agreable to it, and we will work with them next year so we can show them everything we did this year. It's neat to think that years from now, this book drive could still be going on...

WOW!! 1600 BOOKS! THANK YOU!!!

The book drive is officially over. We collected over 1600 books! Even the teachers donated books! If you have any donations that you were not able to bring to school, be sure to bring them on Tuesday. We will be sorting the books this weekend and then delivering them to the Family Resource Librarian at the Children's Medical Center at Legacy sometime very soon.

Over 900!!!!!!!

I can't believe it! We have over 900 books!!!! Thank you all for donating so many books! We are all very excited about the book drive. Remember, the book drive ends tommorow, so bring in your last-minute donations!

Spanish Books

We are also in need of Spanish books, because there are many Hispanic kids in the hospital. Feel free to donate magazines as well. WE HAVE 322 BOOKS!!!!!!!!!

WOW!

The book drive started yesterday(Monday). Thank you all for donating so many books! The 'used' side is overflowing! The DIamondbacks are so excited to have so many books. The drive started off VERY WELL. Keep up the good work! I will be updating the blog regularly, so check in every once in a while to find out what is happening with the drive and how well we are doing.

Our Announcement at Borchardt

This morning we made our announcement at Borchardt Elementary. We also made flyers to put in the students' Thursday folders. Students can start bringing their books to school after winter break! Clean out your bookshelves!

Book Drive!

The Borchardt Elementary DIamondbacks are sponsoring a book drive for Children's Medical Center of Plano. New books, gently used books, and magazines for ages up to 16 are accepted. January 2-13, 2012. Spanish-language books are especially needed. Boxes will be located in the school for your donations. Our team goal is 500+ books and magazines. Bring your books to school after Winter Break!
